Scott Newitt is just as passionate about his job as the Marketing and Distribution specialist in this team. Scott understands what needs to be done to promote their labels. He told me that the best thing they decided to do was to split job descriptions, one being in charge of what’s in the bottle and the other on the outside of the bottle. If more partners would divide their expertise like this, there would be a lot of successful companies.
The plan for Firefly Distillery is to maintain a Vodka theme, as well as offer a Rum flavored with Java. They will get some of their sugar cane from local growers in the area, including her brother Sidi at Rosebank Farms.
With Jim’s tenacity in developing new products, who knows what other products are to come. They have received an enormous amount of press for their products, featured in Southern Living, New York Times to name a few.
They are always on the lookout for interesting ways to promote their vodka as well. As our interview ended, Scott was headed to a concert to offer Firefly in their VIP tents on tour. They will be driving across the country this summer in the company RV, which is a poster board for Firefly. With sayings like “Its not your Grandmas sweet tea”.
The generosity and sincerity I felt at this family run establishment warmed my heart, or was that the vodka I tasted.
